Internet Privacy and Safety

With the development and progress of science and technology, the Internet brings people countless benefits. The reason why technology products are so developed is that we already rely on it, people cannot live without it. Especially, people are addicted to social media. They want to share funny or interest things to their friends. How many people get up first thing is to check the phone? I think most people would do that. This is like a habit that no matter where it is, the Internet is inseparable from people’s lives. People have been controlled by Internet imperceptibly. The safety and privacy problems have followed our lives also.

Anonymity

Internet anonymity means that it protects users’ identities from being shared with other users. It sounds that internet anonymity gives people more space to share and publicize their opinions or speeches because it can reduce the burden of identity. People would think they do not need to take responsibilities for their expression of opinion. That is why cyberbullying happens very often recently. Everyone just talks and judge people without thinking and imagines the consequences of things. Victims may suffer from depression more serious is that they may suicide.

Pseudonymity

It is similar to anonymity, yet the difference is pseudonyms are stable, used by the same person(s) all the time. They have Internet credibility, even if the real name is not publicly known. Some innocent women are cheated for pseudonymity. Using fake names and photos to invite girls to hang out is the one of skills.Because they usually use good looking people’s photos to invite girls to hang out with them. In this case, there are many girls are going to fall into the trap unknowingly.

Privacy

Internet privacy has always been a huge issue. Few of us choose not to use the Internet and remain completely anonymous, while the rest of the world chooses to think less about how much personal information we have. the right to Internet privacy is the right to keep sensitive data and information confidential as a result of using the Internet. People do not need to hide or afraid of anything that allows other people to know in the ideal world. Unfortunately, our world is not as wonderful as we think. It is hard to avoid the leak of information. To interact with websites, sharing some personal information is required. Privacy is not a problem in the beginning until some companies and businessmen did not obey the rules, they took people’s data and made a ton of money from it. Because of the improper ways of these businessmen, why do we need to bear our privacy is leaked. We should invite more people to defend our own rights.

Net neutrality

It is a good way to maintain neutrality. Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. Although net neutrality has been repealed by FCC, it does not mean there is no chance to recover. Once people lose net neutrality, this is difficult to imagine how much will privacy be leaked afterward, so people should express their demands more clearly.

Every generation will face different circumstances and problems that need to be addressed. Technology is constantly evolving nowadays and the Internet is inseparable from our lives.  Although these problems might not completely be eradicated, people should do as much as they can to fix these problems. Nobody can predict what the future will be, but the most critical mindset is to try your best to solve problems, to contribute to the environment, and to change this society.
